Photo during installation by Dazzle Glazz Studio artisans
The existing window was 100 inches tall by 65.5 inches wide and mounted above the baptistry in a building formerly used for worship services. To hold it, a steel frame was fabricated with rollers on the bottom to bear the weight of the glass. Casework was built around the steel frame to match the doors in the lobby area.
After the stained glass was removed and refurbished, a piece of protective safety glass was installed first. The three stained glass panels were followed by material to diffuse the light uniformly since the cabinet was shallow.

Two banks of fluorescent lights were mounted on the wall. One bank of 8-foot lights is controlled by a dimmer to provide overall lighting. A second bank of 4-foot fluorescent lamps was positioned to highlight the figures of Jesus and John the Baptist. It is controlled by a separate dimmer.
Small gaps are provided on top and bottom for a cooling air flow. Baffles prevent light from escaping onto the ceiling and floor. The case is hinged to the wall for vertical support. Weather strips seal the edges to block light leaks to the sides.
